This policy explains how Tagaste LLC (“we,” “us”) handles information in connection with the Becoming Catholic mobile app. Tagaste LLC is a California limited liability company and is the controller responsible for your information. Contact: [email protected].

This policy covers the Becoming Catholic app only. Our services for parishes and organizations are covered by the Tagaste Labs Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Device identifiers. The app generates a random identifier stored on your device, used to operate app features and to associate diagnostic and usage information as described below.

Journey content you enter. The app includes a personal journey worksheet and related devotional features that may ask for information such as names, dates, or personal reflections. That content is stored on your device and is not transmitted to us as part of normal use.

Information you provide directly. This includes the contents of messages you send us, together with any contact details you include, and any question you choose to submit through an in-app question feature.

Parish or location information you choose to enter. If you search for or select a parish, the characters you type may be sent to our service to return matching results. Ordinary request metadata, such as an IP address, is received as part of that request.

Diagnostic and usage information. Such as app version, device type, operating system version, crash and performance diagnostics, and coarse, anonymous usage events (for example, that a step in a feature was completed) associated with the device identifier above rather than with your identity.

2. How We Use Information

To provide, maintain, secure, and improve the app; to respond to inquiries and questions you submit; to diagnose and fix technical problems; to understand aggregate usage of app features; and to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. Disclosure

We use service providers to operate the app, including for hosting and content delivery, app update distribution, crash and performance diagnostics, anonymous usage analytics, and email delivery. They receive only what is needed to perform those functions for us. We may add, change, or replace service providers.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

4. Retention and Security

We retain information for as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law. Information stored on your device is removed when you delete the app, and the app provides an on-device control to erase it sooner. We take reasonable measures designed to protect information; no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

5. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to appeal a decision on such a request. Email [email protected] to make a request. Because we generally identify devices by random identifiers rather than accounts, we may need additional information to locate relevant records and may be unable to fulfill a request we cannot reasonably verify. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

6. Children

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

7. International Users

We operate in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Continued use after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance.
